Reveal Holes

What starts as a little problem, or hole with a horse, often develops into a big problem and even life threatening when left unchecked. Let me give you an example. You have a horse that walks off as you’re swinging your leg over the saddle. You’re in a relatively comfortable environment most the time he does it, and you’re just wanting to get on and go so you let it slide. Now you’re taking your horse someplace new to ride - the horse is already nervous being in an unfamiliar environment, and this time he starts waking off as soon as you put your foot in the stirrup, and as you’re swinging your leg over him, the horse bolts and you’re being drug. I know of several people killed from horse accidents that never would have happened if holes had been addressed in the horses training instead of ignored. People often don’t want to acknowledge weaknesses or areas in our horsemanship that require more effort because it’s easier to just get around a horse and make excuses for him than make him better. You will never regret taking the time it takes to train a horse to be a more safe and willing partner.
