Lessons Learned

One of the most valuable lessons I learned from a mentor of mine was that you either choose to think about the meaning behind something, or you don’t, and the difference is what makes an exceptional horseman vs. an average one. I had finished riding my horse and pulled her saddle, offered her water, brushed her, and went to join the other kids before he stopped me. All he told me was to keep brushing her until she was completely dry. I never saw any other kid do that, but I listened, and it made all the difference from that day on.
